Mrs. Thrash dies at 85

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Pearl Thrash, 85, of 3600 Schley will be held at 2:30pm Monday at the Sparkman-Brand Ross Avenue Chapel. Rev. D.L. Wadley of the Lemmon Ave. Baptist Church and Rev. J.C. Cooper of Crockett will officiate. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum. Mrs. Thrash, a Dallas resident since 1918, died Saturday in a Dallas hospital following a two months illness. She was born in Orville, Ala. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. E.D. Doyle of Garland, Mrs. Vera T. Sargent and Mrs. Pearl Williams, both of Dallas; and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Thrash's grandsons.

Fourth Victim of Dallas Traffic Accidents During 1934.
Mrs. Cornelia Carter Cootes, 1603 Pocahontas, fourth victim of traffic accidents during 1934, died Friday night in an ambulance on the way to a hospital after she had been struck while crossing Second Avenue at Frank Street. Mrs. Cootes had left the home of a friend and was walking to catch a street car for home. Sustaining a fractured skull and internal injuries she did not regain consciousness before death. C. M. Raley, 22, 3810 Hancock, was released from the county jail without bond shortly after midnight by Assistant District Attorney Walter Clark after he had made a statement regarding the accident. A charge of negligent homicide was filed. Mrs. Cootes is survived by her husband, R.F. Cootes; a daughter, Gwendolyn, 7; her mother, Mrs. Pearl Thrash; three sisters, Mrs. Vera Daslick and mrs. Pearl Williams of Dallas, and Mrs. E.D. Doyle of Brady, and a brother, W.T. Thrask, Cushing, OK.
